Code Switching in a Spanish-English Bilingual Child: A Communication Resource

چکیده
In this paper, we address the issue of how two languages are represented in bilingual children by focusing on the sequential acquisition of two first languages. Specifically, we report the results of a longitudinal case study that investigated the pattern of development of English, Spanish and mixed utterances in a Spanish/English bilingual child. The mixed utterances were also analyzed syntactically in order to investigate to what extent they resemble adult code switching behavior.
